In the long run, it's just stuff, and you can't take it with you. It points out the lasting investment in things that are eternal!
But it sure if fascinating going through other people's things and getting to know them via their belongings. You could write a book about what kind of life you think they led....kind of like the Notebook. That'd be so cool. I'd love to imagine where the lady wore her mink stole...and fancy dresses. ...to charity balls or maybe just to the Superstore...
I find it fascinating to dust at the house where I clean....such interesting things...
